Due to the modern day problems we are facing which cannot be solved by mainstream economic doctrines, the field of Islamic economics is on the rise by the mercy of Allah and many scholars are writing on the topic and university programs are becoming available to study it in depth. Islam is the only solution to poverty eradication as it places a great emphasis on helping the poor and eradicating poverty. There are various solutions which Islam has provided for the overwhelming problems of poverty which can be used by policymakers and individuals.

1. Charity: One of the essential aspects of Islamic charity is Zakat, which is an obligatory act of giving a percentage of one's wealth to those in need. Muslims are also encouraged to give voluntary charity, known as Sadaqah, which can take various forms, including donating money, food, or clothes to the poor. Furthermore, Islam emphasizes the importance of caring for the vulnerable members of society, including orphans, widows, and the elderly. Muslims are encouraged to provide for these individuals by providing them with food, shelter, and financial assistance.

2. Economic Justice: Islam promotes economic justice, which includes fair distribution of wealth and resources. In a country like Nigeria, where income inequality is rampant, policymakers can adopt Islamic economic principles, such as an equitable distribution of resources, to reduce poverty and promote economic development.

3. Entrepreneurship: Islam promotes entrepreneurship as a means of reducing poverty. The concept of Halal and Haram in business encourages Muslims to engage in lawful and ethical business practices that benefit society. Islamic finance also provides alternative financing options for individuals who cannot access conventional loans due to their financial status or religious beliefs. Microfinance institutions that operate on Islamic principles have been successful in providing financial services to the poor and promoting economic development. Therefore, policymakers in Nigeria can learn from these principles and implement policies that support entrepreneurship and provide access to alternative financing options for the poor. By doing so, Nigeria can create a conducive environment for economic growth and poverty reduction while upholding ethical standards.

4. Education: Education plays a significant role in poverty eradication. Islam places great emphasis on seeking beneficial knowledge and using it to benefit society. Therefore, investing in education can lead to the development of skilled individuals who can contribute to economic growth and poverty reduction.

5. Moral Values: Islam prioritize teaching moral values, which can help reduce crime rates and promote social cohesion. By investing in education, Nigeria can create a more educated and ethical society that is better equipped to tackle poverty.
